Riverina Outdoor Art Trail Follow scenic highways and wide country roads across the Riverina on an artistic journey of discovery. Covering an area of more than 500kms of diverse landscapes the Trail includes the magnificent Weethalle Silo Mural, Narrandera Water Tower Mural and Lockhart Water Tower Mural. The vibrant back lane murals of Wagga Wagga and Griffith are a must see, as are the many intricately designed sculptures and unique artworks located throughout the regions pretty towns and villages. Follow us on our journey as the Riverina Outdoor Art Trail continues to grow, with further silo and water tower murals commissioned for the coming months. Ask at reception for more info FITNESS ENTHUSIASTS We have a 9.76 bike path, (longer if you like) Starts at the Golf club gates and heads out to Barooga, returns via Thorburns Rd, Marion Dr and comes in along Hutsons Rd. Ride out to Chrysties museum. Also this track leads directly to the new Aviation Museum. A must do, so much history and a fantastic cafe all at the one place. Matt and his team will be ready to welcome you. (I've had the Brownie, yum) Our Favs 4th Largest River Red Gum is only a short walk along the Murray River from Jersey St. Or fancy a longer walk, the girls in reception can mark it on the map. Apprx 3 kms from the office. Big Fish, Blow hole Historic Railway Bridge magnificent, you will notice that there are copious amounts photos of the bridge throughout this web page. Love, love, love. Railway Station Museum, appointments necessary. WAAAF creek walk, I absolutely love this walk. I ride it, I walk it and even drag my dog along it, not really she loves it as well. Starts opposite the Primary school and heads out to the golf club. Of course you do not need to walk the whole distance approx 1km. Tocumwal Aviation Museum. A must do, so much history and a fantastic cafe all at the one place. Tocumwal Antiques and Tea Rooms - Victorian antique, glass, china and estate jewelry. The gallery displays of contemporary decorator items and gifts. Shopping precinct- We have quite a good variety of shops including the must haves. Our chemist has a great selection of gifts and scarves and the service is fantastic. Barefoot boutique will see you right for clothing of a country nature including boots to suit your personality. Homewood Bound - A beautiful selection of homewares, gifts and clothing. Your trip to Tocumwal would not be complete without a visit to the Icecreamery. So many flavours you will struggle to choose. Their hot menu is pretty fantastic as well. The Gallery of local artists is worth taking a peak at at the Volunteer Information Centre at the Old Railway Store, there are some very talented people in and around Tocumwal. Tocumwal RSL - Has one of the best collections of War memorabilia. Open on Sundays for light lunch and raffles and the odd drink or two. From 11am -2pm. Great bar prices, homestyle cooking and friendly banter. Chrysties Museum - Set on 4 acres Christies is a lifetime collection which will enthrall and amaze. From an old log truck to a Nash Metropolitan, collectables and curios as well as old caravans in varying states. Is a must see while staying in Tocumwal. Murray River - Boating, fishing, water sports, swimming along the sandy beaches, canoeing, flat bike riding tracks. River Walks - Lots of walking tracks along the Murray River, dining experiences from local Hotels, Clubs and fine dining Restaurants, foreshore BBQ areas and children's playground. Sporting Attractions - bowls, golf, tennis & Toc Bloods Football/Netball. Our golf course is fantastic for the keen golfer and the not so sure why I'm doing this golfer. Beautiful greens and magnificent fairways amongst the curious wildlife. Do not overlook Finley Golf club for a more small town feel. Golf carts available. Roll ups are available at the bowling club. Don't forget to check the local football/netball calendar for local games for that real grass-roots atmosphere. Barooga Mini Golf - Only a 15min drive from Toc is the Barooga Sporties and they now have a fantastic mini golf course and indoor games simulation bunker for something a little fun and great for a rainy day. Did you know that Tocumwal has a Rock finding group Tocumwal Rocks can be found on Facebook. Keep your eyes peeled as treasure may not be far away. Feel free to paint a few before you arrive. Write "Photo, Post, Re-hide", add your postcode on the back and you are ready to hide around them around Toc. We are really spoilt for some of the best food around. The Wall Cafe, a smaller cafe with some of our favs on the menu. The Drome Cafe, Great for big groups, families The Fifth Daughter, Lovely atmosphere, light meals The River Deck, Great views, Charcoal chicken & salads, some bakery faves and a great specials menu. Macdermid's Bakery, Traditional Aussie Bakery with some award winning recipes. River Garden Chinese, All your favourite popular Chinese dishes and a great selection of Chef's specials. Keep an eye out for their All-you-can-eat buffet nights. Excellent value! The Foreshore Take-Away, Fish, chips, burgers and all the usual extras. The Old Bank, Delicious Italian food, cocktails and a warm welcome. Finley has a Railway precinct, museum and a lake. It also boasts a foundry but bookings are necessary. A walk around Jerilderie Lake will not disappoint either. Jerilderie has a Ned Kelly vibe, he was a bit naughty there in his hey day..... Further afield we have Corowa chocolate and whisky factory which is well worth the hour drive. Burramine homestead (Vic side) is a wonderful country homestead of its era showing a glimpse at how life was. Sit on the verandah for a light lunch and imagine life before technology.... Continue onto Yarrawonga-(Vic side) /Mulwala and you have a fabulous day out. There is TunzaFun minigolf & dodgems and some fantastic parks for the family. You can access Mulwala from NSW, the lake is huge and head towards Corowa and there are some wonderful photo oppurtunities. Lake Mulwala has PS Cumberoona, they have cruises during the peak seasons. Sunset dinner cruises as well as music cruises. No better way to experience the lake from the inside out. Cactus Country - AUSTRALIA’S LARGEST CACTUS GARDEN AT CACTUS COUNTRY. LOCATED IN STRATHMERTON, VICTORIA, CACTUS COUNTRY IS A LITTLE PIECE OF MEXICO ON THE MURRAY. Alinta Zoo is not far away. A great day out. Sit back and relax as the horse drawn cart carries you around the various exhibits. Animal experiences available but you must book as the number of visitors are limited. Head up the Newell through Jerilderie and turn onto the Kidman way. 158km, 1 3/4 hours away. Well worth the trip |
